Annual Events

Winter Gathering & Top of the Community Awards

Beginning of the New Year (around February)

The Chamber of Flowood celebrates its Flowood business community through our annual gala, the Winter Gathering. Top of the Community Awards are presented to chamber members and individuals who made a significant impact in Flowood in the past year.

Meet your chamber board of directors, government officials, and business leaders at this ceremonial event that celebrates our thriving business community!

Mudbug Bash

Every spring (around April-May)

The Mudbug Bash is our annual crawfish boil where attendees can mingle and enjoy all-you-can-eat crawfish, corn, and potatoes. This springtime event brings together the community for a classic southern experience with the perfect opportunity to connect with other chamber and community members.

This event offers sponsorship opportunities, which can vary each year, but typically allows for sponsoring businesses to bring a tent and free promotional goodies to give out to all attendees.

Flowood Family Festival (City of Flowood event)

Early summer (May)

Since 1999, the City of Flowood has hosted this outdoor concert with live music, kid’s activities, fair food, fireworks, and more. The festival is always free and brings in thousands of travelers from all across the region to join in family-friendly fun right here in Flowood.

Chamber members have the opportunity to set up a tent and distribute free promotional items in the kid’s area.

Back-to-School Health & Wellness Fair (City of Flowood event)

Typically held the Saturday before school starts

The City of Flowood hosts vendors and professionals from local businesses who provide free school supplies and an interactive and educational experience to get Flowood students ready for the new school year.

Chamber members have the opportunity to set up a table to distribute free promotional items and school supplies to local students.

Taste of Flowood

Every late summer/early fall (around September)

Enjoy live music and local eats at the Chamber’s annual food festival. Restaurant chamber members showcase their favorite recipes, signature dishes, and specialty products to a wide local audience.

This event also offers sponsorship opportunities to all chamber members. Taste of Flowood sponsorship can vary year-to-year but usually includes the opportunity to bring a tent and pass out free promotional items to all attendees.

Chili Cook-Off

First Thursday in December

At the annual Chili Cook-Off, chamber members show off their cooking skills to see who the best chili chef is in this family-friendly chili competition. Proceeds go toward the Chamber of Flowood’s scholarship program, and the event is open to the community.

Team registration is exclusive to chamber members. This event is a great opportunity to have a team tent setup with your business branding and to interact with several hundreds of people in the community — also while competing for best chili!

Quick Networking Opportunities

Ribbon Cuttings

We are proud to celebrate member businesses year-round with ribbon cutting celebrations! Ribbon cuttings last about 30 minutes and are a great way to meet other supportive members, exchange business cards, and welcome a member’s business milestone — whether it’s a grand opening, a business anniversary, or a new location!

Follow our social media for updates and opportunities to attend.

“Network Your Needs” Social Series

Network Your Needs is a series of mini social events that provides members from the Chamber of Flowood, Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership, and Rankin County Chamber the opportunity to network at a variety of locations across central Mississippi over light morning refreshments. This series was created to help young professionals build networking skills and was designed to help develop partnerships that benefit all businesses.

Attendance is free, and guests are encouraged to bring flyers, business cards, etc. to help share your needs. The series continues at a new location from a different chamber member. Follow the “Network Your Needs” Facebook page for updates!
